“We stayed in the fisherman's hut this time, it was very basic, you can hire a generator too but we didn't as we took a battery to run lights, they supplied a bbq, there's a fire bin nearby to use, we used the aqua play twice, well my son did, I just watched, that was really good fun, need some shade thou for people sitting waiting/watching their kids, the swimming area was noodled off & there were canoes to hire, lots of kids were in life jackets, I was impressed with that, normally my son gets embarrassed cos he has to wear one & no other kids are wearing them. Can't wait to visit again, next time we will get the powered cabin on the river front.” – Lyn

“Great for picnics, fishing and boating. Even better with the aqua blitz. Couldn't ask for a better place to stay and camp and the prices were excellent. Even grabbed a bite to eat when I couldn't be bothered cooking. Well done Si and Pete.” – Lee

“A great place for a holiday or a weekend will be going back for sure” – Patricia

“Lake Lyell is our favorite campground. We went there a few times each year.
If you are heading in from Magpie Hollow Road through Shell, the entry is on the left after the bridge. There is no sign near entry so it can be a bit confusing.
There are campsites right next to the river and plenty of activities to offer like fishing, kayaking and a new giant inflatable water-park this year.
There are cabins, powered / non-powered sites as well as shower facilities, kiosk and BBQ area.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
There are so much to do in the area and it is our little heaven away from work.”

“We spent 2 nights at Lake Lyell Recreation Park and wished we could have stayed longer! We had a large group, 4 families - 23 people in all. We booked the ski lodge, 2 huts and a powered site for a camp trailer. The ski lodge comfortably slept 8 and had power and it's own gas bbq and is located right on the waters edge which was just perfect to take in the amazing view. This lodge was ridiculously cheap at $125 per night for 8 people! The huts slept 5 and can be powered by a generator if needed.
With 14 kids aged from 10 to 18 in our group, they were never bored!!! Lake Lyell has recently invested in the Aquablitz! A huge inflatable that was sooo much fun! It is supervised by a lifeguard so parents can relax and watch their kids having the time of their lives! There were kyacks to hire and we also had boats for tubing and fishing! There was so much to do, we wish we could have stayed longer!
We were wonderfully hosted by Park Managers, Pete and Stacey who went out of their way to make sure we all had a great time!! The grounds are mowed and well kept and the amenities are kept very clean and it is evident they take great pride in the Park. It really is a credit to them.
We will definitely be going back. This Park is not 5 star but it certainly is proof that you don’t need to spend a fortune or stay in flash accommodation to have a great holiday!!”
